500 Pencils, by Social Designer is a unique concept meant to appeal to the artist in us all.
From their website:
Introducing 500 Colored Pencils: the only set in the world that matches the span and wonder of human creativity. Express whatever you dream, with beautiful visual precision. Each pencil is its own story. A unique hue with an inventive name to inspire the far corners of your creativity.
Together, the colors suggest infinite possibilities.
This is how it works: You subscribe to 500 Pencils and get a set of 25 colors in the mail each month for 20 months. They are delivered in a “lovely graphic box”, but a huge part about what draws me to this are the display case options (sold separately). My favorite was the Aurora, shown above. I would love to have this in my workspace. The colors would inspire me to actually use the pencils… and if not, hey… at least it looks like art!

That’s a great concept. It would be fascinating to look at the set in a year and compare the length of pencils in different colour groups, but at $660 for the pencils and $260 for the cases I think that I might have to find another way to implement it.
