Jeffrey Monteiro for Spring 2009

April 1st, 2009  |  Published in Fashion  |  1 Comment

Jeffrey Monteiro just launched his line in Fall of 2008 but his resume reads like a premonition.

In 2001, Monteiro came to New York to work at Mayle, leaving in 2005 as Design Director to take a position with the same title for the Derek Lam signature collection and Tod’s RTW collections.

After two years at Derek Lam he was offered a position as Vice President of Design, and decided he would rather strike out on his own. His range for Spring 2009 is beautiful. Lightweight fabrics, a play on texture, and I especially love quirky the details he works in: like the shoulder straps that drape down the arms. Shorts and slacks are pleated and comfortably baggy and easy to wear. I also love that he did the classic trench in this oceanic, clean blue. Gorgeous!
