When I heard about the Girls In Tech Social Fashion & Beauty Summit, I thought this would be the perfect event for me to get started on the long promised video content! I was excited to attend this event because there are a lot of big changes coming to Couture Cult, and I am also going to be launching my new venture, a social networking site, within the next month or two… and this offered up a little bit of so many of the things I love: fashion and beauty, tech, networking, and delicious pink colored vodka drinks! I got a lot of helpful information, not only from the formal discussion, but from the chatter during the cocktail party after. The best deals and friendships are made over drinks. It was wonderful to be surrounded by empowered, intelligent, stylish, with-it women who all share a passion for both fashion and business. I met some wonderful ladies and made some inspiring connections and I will be sure to attend the next GIT event that comes to Los Angeles.

What’s Girls In Tech?

Girls in Tech is a social network enterprise focused on the engagement, education and empowerment of like-minded, professional, intelligent and influential women in technology. As young women with the capacity to inspire, we made it our personal desire and passion to create and sustain an organization that focuses on the collaboration, promotion, growth and success of women in the technology sector.
Girls in Tech aims to offer a variety of resources and tools for women to supplement and further enhance their professional careers and aspirations in technology. Some of these resources include, educational workshops and lectures, networking functions, round table discussions, conferences, social engagements, and recruitment events.

The event was held at Live! on Sunset, which used to be the Virgin music store. Now an “interactive boutique” of sorts, beautiful clothes greeted you at the door and as you moved towards the back of the room to the open bar and makeup stations that have been setup you see groupings of fierce fashionista’s swapping business cards. When I walked in the room, the buzzword was definitely “Twitter”. Do you have a Twitter? What’s your Twitter? Surrounded by sexy clothes and an open bar and yet Twitter is the topic on deck. We talked blog platforms, ways to do your own PR, resources, whether or not beauty brands are interacting online… so very many wonderful bits of information that I had to share it with all of you.

There are big things coming in the next couple of months and to those of you who have been coming back to my little corner on the web for the past couple of years, gawking and gazing at the fashion, accessories, and decor that we just cannot get enough of: thank you so much for helping me to manifest all of these wonderful things that are on the way!
