Chloe Sevigny Is The New Style Advisor For Elle UK!

Oh, Chloe! How we love you! Our very first Featured Fashionista has continued to do us proud. Acting on Big Love. Designing for Opening Ceremony. Style Advisor for Elle UK. Lorraine Candy, Elle UK’s editor-in-chief, in an attempt to revamp the magazine’s image and sales has brought her on for a six month stint answering reader’s letters about style.
In an interview with the Guardian, Lorraine said:
“Style advisor’ is not just a title – she’ll really be doing it, she has a column. She is not someone who’s instantly recognisable – she couldn’t go on a Glamour or Cosmopolitan cover, she could only go on an Elle cover to be honest. But what we’re saying with this [signing] is that this magazine is about fashion and style – and next month we’ve got someone who the author Jay McInerney once called ‘the most stylish girl in the world’ on the cover.”
Hmm. I disagree that Chloe couldn’t do a Glamour or Cosmo cover. In fact, if she hasnt already Im surprised. What doesnt surprise me is to hear her described as the most stylish girl in the world. Or an even greater compliment, from me: a true artist.
I cant wait to see what she has to say! Elle UK will be featuring Chloe on their March cover, though it is rumored to be only on the subscribers covers. You can check it out below, and thanks Perez!
Im not sure if bringing on Chloe will do what Lorraine wants it to, as far as the magazine is concerned. When I read her interview with the Guardian, she seemed to be making lofty claims that Elle is the “the world’s biggest-selling fashion magazine”. James Silver, who wrote the article, quipped “It strikes me as a curious label for a title which is not only comprehensively outsold by market leaders Glamour, Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire (which admittedly are not fashion magazines per se), but also – by some 17,000 copies – by Vogue.”
To which Lorraine gave a caveat answer about something having to do with Elle on the global market. Sounds like a buncha spin to me. But thats her job. One thing she has done right, is tapped in to the audience that loves Chloe. At least for 6 months.
